What is a pantera?

Pantera was an American heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. The band consisted of vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown, and drummer Vinnie Paul. Pantera is considered one of the most influential and successful heavy metal bands of the 1990s, known for their aggressive sound, powerful live performances, and hits such as "Walk", "Cowboys from Hell", and "Cemetery Gates".

Pantera achieved commercial success with their album "Vulgar Display of Power" in 1992, which is often cited as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. The band continued to release successful albums throughout the 1990s, including "Far Beyond Driven" and "The Great Southern Trendkill".

Tragically, the band's career was cut short by the murder of guitarist Dimebag Darrell in 2004 while performing with his band Damageplan. Pantera disbanded shortly after Dimebag's death, but their legacy continues to live on through their music and influence on the metal genre.
